Powering individuals to change their own lives.

Fountain of Life Shelter for destitute women, children and rape victims in Brakpan, Johannesburg, takes in homeless women, and their children and rape victims who have endured neglect, abuse, trauma and homelessness. We shelter individuals who are struggling to make ends meet; young homeless mothers looking to kick-start their lives; and individuals going through financial difficulties (affected by rape or any other social factors).
The services we offer include, but are not limited to FREE job-skills training, accommodation up to 6 months, 3 meals a day, monthly toiletries, counselling, life skills training, entrepreneurial skills training and referrals to workplace employment and further psycho-social support. We aim to enable whoever we shelter to regain their dignity by becoming independent of the shelter, in order to adequately support themselves and their children.

"We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty."
-Mother Theresa

Women’s rights are human rights, yet women and girls are still denied them in every region of the world. Right now, women and girls across the world face discrimination, live in fear of violence, and have no control over their lives. The reason? Because patriarchy, a system which means women hold less power and are disadvantaged, dominates in societies around the worlds. Society views women and girls as unequal.
